Photo and Picture enhancement with KPT 6

This tutorial uses KPT 6 plugins Materializer and Equalizer. PSP was used but it can easily be done in PS.

Open any image. I made this using Bryce if you want to snag it just to work with be my guest.
Duplicate your background layer twice giving a total of 3 layers.
Activate your second layer by highlighting the second layer in your layers tool options. Apply KPT 6 Equalizer using the blotch blur medium preset. Yep it will look funny but just be patient . If you are new to working with the KPT interface the presets are accessible by going to the buttons in the left corner. as shown below.

Click the waffered square to get to the preset interface.

Now activate the top layer and apply Materializer.I have a preset that I have available here. or you can just use the stamped Metal text preset with the following settings.

This is where you set the image to be your texture.
On the texture map area I chose luminance and my image appears for my texture.
I also inverted the texture so my mountains were not sinking
Notice that with different settings on the blend modes you get a different area that is used for your texture.
My offsets for Horizontal and vertical are left at zero. You get your texture moved by changing these.
The scale is left at the middle around 50. You can have a texture much larger or smaller than your image when you move this one.
The lighting was left as the default for the original preset.
The tint is a shade of gray, this can be changed depending on the graphic that you use. The texture is used in a high setting because we are going to change the layer's opacity later so a lot of texture is needed. Leave the distortion near the center. Changing this can cause your texture to be offset. I did not use an extra environment with this setting so you will notice that if you don't load one it is greyed out. Before you leave this one check the metal or plastic to see which one looks better with the graphic that you are using.
Open up your layers options and change the second layer to overlay on the layer blend mode.(this is highlighted in red on the example image) Next change to opacity of the layers as seen on the example. You can also play with these settings to suite the image that you are using. This is why we saved the first image.
This is my final image.

This method can also be used on photographs to bring out some color and texture in backgrounds.
